Kiaat Spirit Lamp / Pterocarpus angolensis
DESCRIPTION
The pillar of this spirit lamp is made from Kiaat sourced responsibly from Mozambique, and finished with our favourite wax composition. Inside sits a glass vessel to be filled with your choice of oil for burning, and a wick encased in glass.
Make sure that you let the wick soak for 15-20 minutes in oil before lighting the tip; the wick should be flush with the top of the removable glass tube - it is the oil that burns, not the wick (which is fibreglass and so lasts for a very long time). We recommend looking for Lamp Oil, Canola, Castor, or Mustard oil. Proprietary oils are available that kill many cold and flu germs - handy in the present climate!
Be careful NEVER to spill oil or other flammable substances on the wood. Don’t leave your lamp unattended for more than a few minutes, and check the wick before each use to make sure it can never touch the wood surround.
Unless otherwise stated, all our items are one-of-a-kind.
