Spalted European Beech Bowl / Fagus sylvatica
DESCRIPTIONThis bowl with a stepped rim has been turned from responsibly sourced European Beech and finished with highly polished microcrystalline wax. We buy our Beech from suppliers with a good reputation for sustainable forestry.
There is a small crack in the rim, but it’s non-structural and shouldn’t affect the longevity of the bowl. The grain on this piece shows exceptional depth of colour and structure due to light spalting, (meaning the living tree was at one point attacked by fungus.)
We recommend against using this bowl for food but it is suitable for displaying fruit, wrapped sweets, and possessions.
